LMI Custom Mixing invested $12 million in facility improvements that will allow it to meet long-term customer demands. Completed in June of 2017, the expansion added 50,000-square-feet of warehousing and storage, plant infrastructure upgrades and a third mixing line.
The completed expansion increased LMI’s annual production capacity to 60 million pounds of rubber, a 50 percent increase that will help support the strong growth of LMI’s customer base.
In addition to investing in the growth of their customers, LMI also invested in the growth of the Cambridge community. LMI worked with the Cambridge City Council, the Cambridge City Board of Education, the Guernsey County Port Authority and PNC Bank to secure tax incentives and financing for the project. These partners helped bring LMI’s expansion to reality, allowing the community to benefit from increased employment and security of the existing jobs in the area.
“We’re grateful for the community support on this project, and we’re incredibly proud to be able to make this investment in U.S. manufacturing,” said Jim Nixon, general manager of LMI Custom Mixing. “Our vision is to build upon our reputation for operating one of the most advanced facilities of its kind.”
